Latvia is a small beautiful country located on the Baltic sea between Lithuania in the south and Estonia in the North as well as Russia and Belarus to the east of the Country. Latvia is an ideal choice for a family holiday with many accommodation options from luxury hotels to campsites near the coast of Jumala. go for Family cycle rides or horse back riding through the forests.

Latvia food has had many international influences over the past years but typically inlcudes food such as rye bread, porridge, root vegetables, meat such as; pork, chicken, fish, wild game and dairy products.

Latvia is an year round destination for city breaks. however if you wish to enjoy the beaches or countryside of Latvia, the best time to visit is between June and September when the temperature is above 15 degrees and can hit highs of 30 in the months of July and August. The first frost arrives in Autum and by December when winter arrives the lakes and reservoirs are frozen.

Driving tips in Latvia

Driving is on the right hand side of the road in Latvia. Speed limits are 30 to 50kph in Urban areas with 60 to 90KPH on dual carriage ways and 112kph on divided motorways.

Motorists must drive with their head lights on at all times 24 hours of the day. It is illegal to sound the car horn in towns and villages. Driving fines must be paid at the bank in Estonia and Latvia but in Lithuania fines are paid on the spot.
