Driving tips in Hungary

Driving limits are 50KPH in urban areas 80KPH in outside built up areas and 100KPH on motorways. Outside built up areas head lights must be used at all times. Use of horns is prohibited between 10am and 6pm in built up areas.

Driving is on the right hand side of the road. There is a zero tolerance on drink driving. Motorways are marked with the letter M and letter E for international roads. Fines are allocated on the spot.

Motorway tax is compulsory and a tax sticker should be displayed on the windscreen to use the motorways. This can be purchased from most garages for a nominal charge.
