I have often played in Spain and Portugal and love the courses as well as the culture, food and accommodation provided by these countries. However more and more I find that friends, customer’s and family are opting to visit Turkey for their golf holiday.
It’s never been an option to consider before as I just never thought of Turkey as having golf courses as good as Spain or Portugal. The flights longer and the hotels? ….. well everyone has a different story regarding Turkey accommodation. However, I was pleasantly surprised and instantly hooked with our golf holiday in Turkey in December 2010. Why?
Well here are just a few reasons why Turkey is a great destination for a golf holiday:
Firstly the weather is generally better in Turkey than Spain or Portugal during the winter months which is a great bonus. Particularly in the autumn and spring months.
The courses are designed and maintained to the highest standard. The competition is high but so is the standard of the golf courses as they attract some of the world golf tournaments. You will not be disappointed with any of the golf courses in Turkey.
Service is of the highest standard at the golf courses and everyone has to keep to their allocated time as well as repair pitch marks and divots. The standard of the courses was high for maintenance and was clearly higher than what we have seen in some Spanish golf courses.
The hotels are excellent and the difference in price from a top hotel to one of the 4/5 stars is so minimal it’s worth spoiling yourself. In Turkey, an all-inclusive 5 star hotel will price much cheaper than a similar hotel in Spain or Portugal. Often the cost of the hotel and golf working out at the same price as just the hotel in Spain.
Food is excellent and most hotels offer a buffet restaurant as well as a selection of table service restaurants such as Italian, Chinese, Turkish etc. No reservations are required for the buffet restaurants however for themed meals it is always best to book these in advance.
All-inclusive works perfect for group golf holidays as no-one gets caught at the bar too often and everyone knows what the holiday costs upfront. With an all inclusive golf holiday you wont get stuck at the bar with a large bill for a round. Equally everyone can eat and drink exactly what they want and when they want.
Ground Agents in Turkey are extremely helpful and organised. Our transfers from the hotel to the golf courses arrived each day at the time stated. You don’t need to rent a car! a great benefit on a golf holiday as all transfers are provided from the hotel to the golf course. Add to this the fact there are a wide range of golf courses to play within a short distance. This allows you to play 6 days out of the 7 on different courses each day which just adds to any golf holiday.
Turkey Golf, popular with Groups and Families
Turkey golf holidays have been popular most with groups as the all-inclusive 5-star hotels make an easy choice when going away in groups. No-one wants to get caught at the bar for that 100 euro round! Families and couples also love Turkey as the hotels offer a wide range of activities that will suit any family.
Most hotels have fabulous spa’s offering several treatments to choose and full detox programs to follow during your stay. The larger family hotels have Water-slides that compete with any water-park and provide hours of fun for the little ones.
