London Heathrow Terminal Three Airport Guide

Heathrow Terminal 3

Wow what’s happened to London Heathrow Terminal Three? What a fabulous terminal it has turned into, making flying a pleasure rather than a chore. It’s been a long time since I flew out if this terminal as of late every flight seems to have been BA terminal 5, so it really took me by surprise.

So what’s different at Terminal 3

terminal 3 HeathrowWell, I’d have to start with access to the terminals, the new layout works so much better than years gone by. Of course, there is still “that tunnel” that I’ve seen many a passenger (and crew) have to run through the traffic to catch a flight. But once through the tunnel, it opens up to a wide easy to follow road layout with easy access to drop off and car parking. The drop off point is clearly marked and as long as you don’t leave your car you can stop for a good 10-15 minutes before being moved on.

Car Parking at Heathrow Terminal 3

We used Happy Days Parking, a meet and greet service which was quick and easy to do, drive straight into short stay terminal 3 and the driver was there waiting for us.  A quick check over of our car, confirmation of our return date and time, a receipt with a number to call and we were on our way. Gone are the days of walking in the rain struggling with baggage, now a brightly covered walkway takes you straight into the terminal.

Check-in at Heathrow Terminal 3

We were flying with Qantas airlines and sign-age was easy to follow, lots of desks to check-in and no queue, such a pleasure to have a smooth easy check-in

Security at Heathrow Airport

Security was slick, when the queue built up they opened a new line, and for once right in front of us. That just doesn’t happen to me that often. We were through security within 10 minutes which is much faster than other UK departure airports and as quick as Terminal 5, who boast the quickest of service.

Shopping at Heathrow Airport Terminal 3

Heathrow terminal 3The usual duty-free shops are there with an abundance with all the usual names but also a few different suppliers that you don’t normally find at the airport such as; Cath Kidston, Etro and even a Zara clothing store

Food and drinks at Terminal 3

The choice of bars and restaurant is very good and there is something for everyone, 10 options in total to be exact. We chose the Oriel Brasserie which had a bar area as well as a restaurant offering a selection of snacks and meals to suit any time of day. Drinks were reasonably priced and the option for mixed nuts and olives with Prosecco was perfect pre-flight. If you have a couple of hours to spare and want to indulge book into the Heathrow Terminal 3 No 1 Lounge for complimentary drinks and snacks. Order from a menu choice of various small dishes such as; fish finger sandwich, cheese board, chicken herash, soup, salad and a large selection of cakes. Excellent value for money and Go Easy travel can organise tickets to this executive lounge.

Terminal 3 Departures

Departure boards are plentiful but check your departure gate and the walking distances are anything up to 20 minutes so don’t wait until the boarding sign comes up for a gate with a 20 minute walk. If you are in one of the lounges, remember to keep an eye on the departure boards as not all lounges will announce departures so don’t miss your airplane just because you are enjoying the comforts of the new Terminal 3 experience.
