Packing for a Golf Holiday
If you have never been on a golf holiday before, then packing for a golf holiday might be a little bit of a struggle to know what to take. If are one of those golfers that always forgets something then this handy list of what to pack for a golf holiday might just be useful for you.
Our basic packing list is always a must when traveling abroad but for a golf holiday, but there are always a few other things to consider. The main thing to keep in mind is that the temperatures can differ and you need to be prepared with the right clothes or it could entail an expensive shopping trip.
CLOTHES – If you are playing golf abroad out of season then plan for all eventualities, as it’s not always guaranteed sunshine. Waterproofs and windcheaters can be packed into your golf bag allowance and will save you a lot of money if the weather changes as in resort golf shops can be more expensive. Most golf courses will expect golfers to wear collared shirts, long trousers or long shorts as well as soft spike golf shoes. In the evening most golf hotels, including 5-star resorts, will be relaxed smart casual attire, but just check as some of the 5-star resorts may require more formal wear for some of the dining rooms.
SHOES – Most golf courses abroad will require soft spike golf shoes so make sure you check the course you are playing. It’s also good to make sure the course does not have any restrictions on the length of shorts and long soaks as some can have an old-fashioned rule on golf attire. For off the course, you will need some casual shoes to go to the golf course as some courses will clean and store your shoes at the end of the day. Other footwear to consider is flip flops for the pool or spa, shoes for smart casual in the evening.
ACCESSORIES – If you are a golfer and use a GPS then remember to download the courses you are playing and pack it in your handheld luggage. Here are a few other items to consider;
- Sunglasses, sun hat, sunscreen, insect repellent
- Guide books, reading book, Kindle,
- I pod, I pod Speakers,
- Pen and paper
- Umbrella
- Suntan lotion, after sun, mosquito repellent or bite lotion
- Swimming costume if the hotel has a spa or swimming pool
- First aid kit
