One of the only communist-ruled islands in the Caribbean which offers excellent value for money in an environment steeped with history. A must is a twin-centre holiday on the island with the beach and the city of Havana.

Just soak up the atmosphere of the city; watch old men playing dominoes outside the cafes, check out the old American Buick cars, spend a night at the Copa cabana dancing the night away or watch the famous Havana cigars being rolled, then transfer to the coast and the white beaches of Varadero or Cayo Caco.

Popular Cuba Holiday itineraries :

Include a stop in Havana to explore this fantastic city, a trip out to the Vinales Valley to the Tobacco growing region. On this trip, you also visit the UNESCO preserved Sierra del Rosario Ecological Reserve – the largest of it’s kind in the Caribbean and natural habitat to one of the greatest concentrations of endemic wildlife and vegetation on the island, including the Tocororo, Cuba’s national bird.

Trinidad is another popular add on to consider exploring its cobbled streets and soak up the atmosphere of the live music at the weekends or take a visit to the Escambray mountains to the beautiful tropical forests and waterfalls.

Lastly, a visit to Cuba would not be complete without a visit to one of its many beach destinations. If staying in Havana twin with a hotel at Varadero for a more resort experience or try one of the Cayo’s for that laid back Caribbean tranquil escape.

Varadero is the more popular resort and is the closest to Havana hence its popularity.  Depending on the tour you want to do, either Cayo Coco or Varadero would work for you.

Varadero is more of a resort with a centre to go out to visit in the day and evenings. The beach there is one of the longest on the island and is soft sand with calm waters.

The Cayo’s are much quieter just off the mainland with white sandy beaches and more laid back quieter with hotel entertainment.

Getting Married in Cuba and Weddings on the Beach

One of the main things to consider when choosing a wedding in Cuba is that all documents will be required to be translated into Spanish and legalised at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (Legalisation Department) and the Cuban Embassy which are in London for UK residents.
If both the bride and groom are both single then you need to produce your passports to a Cuban lawyer who will certify that you are both free to marry each other. You must then present your passports, birth certificates and the declaration to the notary in Cuba. If you have been married before then the Legal Requirements for a wedding in Cuba requires – Birth certificate, proof of divorce if previously married, death certificate of Widow or widower if previously widowed. these documents must then be translated into Spanish.

These documents must be lodged with the notary a minimum of 21 days before the marriage so that your intent to marry can be posted on the notice board for 21 days. Original certificates will be required on the day of the wedding.
Once all the legal documents have been approved you are free to marry where ever you would like, be it in the city, on a beach or in one of the old fashioned town halls. Many of the hotels offer free weddings including the preparation of the legal documents, flowers, photographs and many more choices.  Call or email go easy, for your personal consultation on your wedding abroad or visit our Wedding Abroad section.

Golf holidays to Cuba

Cuba might not be the first destination you will choose for a golfing holiday, however, the island does have two 18 hole golf courses. One is situated just outside Havana, which is the “DiploClub” and was once a popular course with the American movie stars back in the 1940s. The other course which is regarded as being as good as any of the other Caribbean golf courses is situated in Varadero. When to go to Cuba and the Weather

The best time to visit Cuba is between November to April when the skies are clear with the least amount of rain. For the very best driest weather holiday in Cuba any time from December to April. Car Hire and Driving in Cuba

Car hire in Cuba is an excellent choice to get out and about and explore the island. It is safe to drive in Cuba and most of the car rental companies are government-run with good standard new vehicles. It is more difficult to find an old American Buick to rent than a regular car. Road conditions in the larger cities and the more tourist-frequented areas of Cuba are fair to good, but bumps and other roadway nuisances can be extreme in the more rural areas.
A European or UK driver’s license is valid in Cuba for one year, but you must be 21 to drive. Driving is on the right-hand side of the road.
Traffic is fairly light, but roads in the countryside are frequented by domestic animals and can become narrow and winding. Be prepared to give up the right of way to both livestock and oncoming traffic. It’s always best to keep your eye on the road as you don’t know what could be around the corner. call or email for our best car hire rates.
