The menu offers a choice of dishes encouraging you to choose from 4 up to 7 different tasting plates. These are dishes to sample which are small but much more than just a mouthful. You can choose one bottle of wine to accompany your meal or sign up for the pairing wines with each dish.
The Experience at Makron Restaurant Stellenbosch
The experience starts with a gift from the chef of the evening, ours is served on a wooden box, in the style and shape of a rose. It comprises salt crust beetroot and celeriac on the stem of a rose. It looked stunning and equally tasted as good. We knew we were in for a treat after our first bite.
We opted for 4 dishes and took 1 each of the 8 on offer on the menu that evening. Everyone was presented to the highest standard with the most amazing flavours.
We finished with a dessert of honeycomb, pannacotta, and lemon. It was like an explosion going off in your mouth with all the flavours and a little touch of popping candy!
At a total cost of 1470 Rand including wine and cocktails for the equivalent to a Michelin restaurant, we felt it was excellent value.
The dress code at Makron Restaurant Stellenbosch is smart casual/informal like most restaurants in South Africa.

Reservations start from 7pm and bookings are essential as it is popular with non-resident guests. Make sure you leave time to visit the bar afterwards for an Expresso Martini to finish the evening.
The bar at Majeka House is equally as quirky with large sofas to relax after a stunning meal. Great service and a large selection of fabulously made cocktails.
