Reasons to stay at Majeka Spa Hotel

There are lots of reasons why to choose this property for your base to explore the many Vineyards. The first would have to be the location of the property which sits in a tranquil setting. The welcome on arrival is warm and friendly and continues all the way through your stay. Also, the very comfortable funky designed bedrooms make this a home from home experience.

Room types at Majeka Spa Hotel

With just 23 rooms in total, this boutique hotel offers 12 premier rooms, 3 garden rooms, 4 poolside rooms, and the remaining Mountain view rooms. In other words, there is something for every budget on offer at this hotel.

On arrival at Majeka Spa Hotel we were lucky enough to receive a complimentary upgrade to a 1 bedroom suite poolside Villa. This lovely room offers you the ability to stretch out and relax and enjoy the quiet tranquil environment of the property. With a shared pool with the adjacent room (which was not occupied) so we had extra privacy and pool all to ourselves. Total luxury, but equally a great room set up for friends or families.

The Hotel beds are equipped with only the best Linens which is wonderful to slide into bed at the end of a long lovely day.  Similarly the Bathroom has a very powerful shower and hot water is quickly dispersed. Which is great in a country that often has water restrictions. The normal toiletries and fluffy towels are in the bathrooms as well as thick toweling bathrobes.

The food at Majeka Spa Hotel

What makes this hotel special is the quality of the food. Breakfast is an experience rather than a process. There is a stunning choice of foods on offer from homemade granola and yogurt, Frittatas, power juices, homemade cakes, fruits, salmon, cold meats and cheeses to name just a few. And then there is the menu with cooked breakfast choices served with tea, coffee, and sparkling wine, well we are in the wine region.

We particularly loved their homemade cereal bars which were perfect to grab for our golf bag each day.

Makron Restaurant Majeka Spa (4) (1)

In the evenings the hotel has its own Michelin styled restaurant called the Makron restaurant. The restaurant offers a choice of tasting dishes from its menu. Choose from 4 to 7 dishes which you can choose to pair with wines for that ultimate culinary experience. Alternatively, select a bottle of wine from their extensive wine list.

Non-residents can visit this restaurant and booking is essential as it is popular with locals and quite simply stunning. You can read our separate review on the Makron restaurant.  If you are staying a few nights in Stellenbosch then add it to your list of things to do, as it won’t disappoint. One of the top-rated restaurants in Stellenbosch.

The bar is very quirky and a lovely place to end your day in one of the soft sofas. Similarly pull up a high stool at the bar and choose from one of the many cocktails on offer from Gin to Rum they have something for everyone. We particularly liked the ESPRESSO MARTINI 55.  The only worrying thing about this bar is the prices at 55R for an Expresso Martini one is just not enough. The lounge bar at Majeka Spa Hotel also offers a light bite menu for a lighter option at the end of the day.

The Spa at Majeka House

The spa again open to the public offers a range of treatments at excellent prices. It is a small space, advance booking is recommended, so do it at the time of reserving your room. I tried the mini pedicure which included a lovely treatment to my feet. Included in the treatment was new polish applied for just 215 Rand.  It was a great experience at a fabulous price.  Above all, I wished we were staying longer to enjoy more of the treatments.
